North Central Fire Protection District (NCFPD) has a rich history that dates back to its establishment in 1982. Originally operating out of a barn, the department was founded by a group of passionate community members committed to providing fire protection services in their rural area. This humble beginning laid the groundwork for what would become a vital resource for the community.
In 1994, the NCFPD received land to construct its first official fire station, a significant milestone that enabled the team to enhance their operations and better serve the needs of the community. Over the years, as the community grew, so did the department. In 2009, recognizing the need for increased capacity and community engagement, NCFPD underwent an expansion. The addition of a larger facility, complete with three bays and a community room, allowed for improved training, equipment storage, and a space for community meetings and events.
Covering an expansive area of 85 square miles, NCFPD faces unique challenges, including numerous dirt roads and the absence of fire hydrants. To combat this, the department relies on water tenders and has established a 30,000-gallon cistern at the station, ensuring a reliable water source in emergencies.
Comprising a dedicated team of 18 volunteers, the department offers comprehensive fire, medical, and rescue services. These volunteers undergo rigorous training to prepare them for various emergencies, ensuring they are equipped to protect both lives and property. The North Central Fire Protection District embodies the spirit of community collaboration and commitment, continually striving to provide the highest level of service to its residents.
